Volunteers trying to build skateparks in Portland

Skaters for Portland Skateparks mission is to create a comprehensive system of world-class public skateparks in Portland, Oregon.

Our vision is to make skateboarding safe and freely accessible to every skateboarder every day for everybody’s benefit.

Skaters for Portland Skateparks is a non-profit corporation, tax exempt pursuant to 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.

Gabriel Park dates – design meeting June 26

Review and comment on conceptual designs

Review and comment on final design
Community Open House
Tuesday, July 31, 7:00-8:30pm
Multnomah Arts Center, 7688 SW Capitol Hwy

Begin construction
January 2008

Complete construction
August 2008

Sounds like Airspeed Skateparks will have a revised design at the first meeting and they will have a week to incorporate design input from the public and show a final design. If you have strong feelings about this park you should plan to attend these meetings. Remember, Parks asked for proposals for a transition park design for Gabriel and the next one at Ed Benedict will be a plaza-style park.

    I appreciate the shout out about this meeting. It actually brought to the attention of our web staff that there was an error in the date of the second meeting. That meeting is actually July 31, same time, same place. Can you change your posting to let skaters know they’ll have a bit more time to comment on the preliminary design which will be shared on June 26th. Thanks.
